Slicing Software Cura is a free, open-source software that prepares files for printing by converting to GCODE.
You can download Cura to preview the print layers, print size, and potential costs before submitting your file for printing.
Slic3r is another open-source software that can be used to convert a 3D model into printing instructions for a 3D printer.
It cuts the model into horizontal slices (layers), generates toolpaths to fill them and calculates the amount of material to be extruded.
