The Fire Department is responsible for the protection of life and property from the ravages of fire. The Department responds to residential, commercial, and industrial fires with specialized equipment designed to meet the needs of the particular fire. In addition, the Department is able to respond to hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescue and trench rescue.
The Fire Department provides advanced life support emergency medical services in cases of sudden illness or injury. Twenty-seven licensed paramedics, working under the direction of a base hospital physician, provide quality pre-hospital emergency care with transportation to four area hospitals.
