#SundaySpotlights: Brooke Heisler has worked with Madison Heights Recreation since 2014! She started as a summer camp leader and within two summers moved up to a camp supervisor! In 2018, Brooke took an internship with the city and became the Part-Time Recreation Coordinator in May of 2019. She became the first full time Recreation Coordinator in over 10 years in March 2020.
She handles many large one day events, running sports leagues, as well as adult and youth programming. The Rec department is in charge of the Festival in the Park, the Holiday Tree Lighting, the City Wide Golf Outing partnering with MHCC, the Run for the Health of It 5k, Summer Camp, Youth T-Ball, Girls Softball, the Youth Basketball League, and other various one day events. They also oversee contracted out programming and classes as well.
Brooke says, “My favorite part of my job is the youth I get to work with. My very favorite program to run is the summer camp. I have now had the opportunity to watch kids grow up through the camp every year, and that is something that I am very proud of.”
In her free time, Brooke likes golfing, watching Michigan basketball, and spending time with her co-workers!
