Recipes we Loved in 2020

Corned Venison

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts distilled water
  • 1/2 cup canning & pickling salt
  • 1/2 cup Morton's Tenderquick (tenderizing salt)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mixed pickling spice
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 8 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 or2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 to 3 pound hunk of venison

Directions

  • Heat heat everything but the meat just to boiling in a glass or enamel saucepan. 
  • Put hunk of meat in a glass or enamel bowl, or an oven cooking bag. Pour cooled brine over to cover.
  • Cover bowl/seal bag.
  • Refrigerate 4-5 days, turning meat occasionally. Drain & rinse meet. Cook in a slow cooker 5-6 hours.
  • Cool 1/2 hour in crock pot before serving.

Grinch Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 box french vanilla cake mix, dry mix only
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • green food coloring, 1 drop
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar, or more for dusting
  • Sprinkles or candies, large heart-shaped
Directions
  • PREHEAT oven to 350° F.
  • In the bowl of your mixer CREAM together cake mix, food coloring, oil, and eggs.
  • DROP by Tablespoon into confectioners sugar.
