New Water Rates
Following extensive discussion and careful consideration, the Madison Heights City Council voted at its meeting on May 8 to approve an increase to the City’s water and wastewater rates, with the new rates taking effect for bills on or after July 1, 2023.
Beginning with bills sent to residents on July 1, 2023, the City will be combining treatment charges into the wastewater rate. Water rates will rise from $3.27 per unit to $4.26 per unit, and sewer rates will change from $3.69 per unit to a wastewater cost of $6.30 per unit, eliminating the stormwater rate. Residents are charged by units, and one unit is equivalent to 748 gallons of water.
The actual cost of water to residents comes to just 1.4 cents per gallon!
