If you are at least 50 years old you can participate in activities at the Senior Center.
You do not have to be a Madison Heights resident.

Services

Transportation ProgramTransportation

The Senior Center transports residents who are age
50 and better and/or disabled who do not have transportation. We offer limited assistance when requested. Transportation is available Monday through Friday to banks, beauty shops, grocery stores, and social services appointments. There is a $1.00 charge each way for appointments in Madison Heights including daily trips for activities and lunch at the Center. 

Transportation to doctor appointments are on Monday and Friday only. There is a charge of $2.50 each way and appointments must stay within a seven mile radius from the Senior Center. For more information, please call the Center at (248) 545-3464.

Federally Funded Lunch Program

Lunch is served daily at 12:00 pm for $3.50 per person. Call (248) 545-3464 before 11:00 am one day ahead to reserve a lunch, or just sign up on the lunch sign in table. For information on mobile meals for homebound recipients call Senior Meals on Wheels at (248) 689-0001. 

FREE Blood Pressure Testing

Thursdays once or twice a month from 11 am - 12 noon.
Provided by The Madison Heights Fire Department.

Free Hearing Tests and Hearing Aid Cleaning

A licensed hearing aid specialist is at the Center the first Tuesday of the month from
9:30 am - 11:30 am to test your hearing and clean hearing aids free of charge.

Foot Care

3rd Tuesday of each month from 9-11 am
Dr. Adas and Dr. Wexler have been providing foot care in practice for over 30 years. Now they are bringing this service, which is covered under Medicare every 62 days, to the Senior Center. Please call the Center at 248-545-3464 to make your appointment!

Medical Loan Closet

Wheelchairs, walkers, canes, bedside commodes and shower chairs are available for loan. Call the Center at (248) 545-3464 for more information.


Yard Service Program

Free grass cutting and snow removal services are available for income-qualified seniors on a first come first serve basis. Limited space available annually. Sign up in February. Click Here for more information and an application (PDF).

SHARP Program
Senior Home Assistance & Repair Program

SHARP- Madison Heights is a program to help seniors, those that are physically challenged and deployed servicemen and women in Madison Heights with minor home maintenance. The program is co-sponsored through the North Woodward Community Foundation (of Troy). Volunteers perform chores and simple tasks that help seniors keep their homes safe and livable. Recipients pay only for the materials, not the labor. If you or someone you know is interested, call the Senior Center at 248.545.3464 for assistance.

Calls regarding services not available directly through the Senior Center are referred to the proper agency.

Library Homebound Service

Madison Heights Public Library Homebound Service is available to deliver and to pick up library materials for qualified homebound residents.

To be eligible for this service, a resident must:
1. Live in a private residence or apartment in the City of Madison Heights. The library is unable to extend service to residents in nursing homes, hospitals, or assisted living facilities at this time.
2. Be confined to their home due to illness, disability or mobility limitations (permanent or extended).
3. Surrender any library card currently held.
4. Complete and return a Homebound Service application.
5. Complete an application for a library card with the Community Services Librarian, which will be retained at the library.

Senior Center Available for Rent!

The Senior Center dining room is available to rent for Madison Heights residents, businesses, approved civic groups and scout troops. Applications are now being accepted.

Rental Fees:  $50 per hour (minimum 3 hours) for residents and businesses       
                      $25 per hour (minimum 3 hours) for civic groups and scout groups
                      Security Deposit for all rentals $200
All fees are due at time of booking reservation.
