Statement of Services:

The Fire Department is responsible for the protection of life and property from the ravages of fire.  The Department responds to residential, commercial, and industrial fires with specialized equipment designed to meet the needs of the particular fire.  In addition, the Department is able to respond to hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescue and trench rescue.

The Fire Department provides advanced life support emergency medical services in cases of sudden illness or injury.  Twenty-Seven licensed paramedics, working under the direction of a base hospital physician, provide quality pre-hospital emergency care with transportation to four area hospitals.

The Fire Prevention Division is involved in the enforcement of State laws and City ordinances that relate to fire protection and prevention.  The Division also inspects commercial and industrial buildings, and multiple-unit dwellings for fire code violations.  In addition, the Division conducts fire investigations and aids in the fire prevention effort through the development and presentation of public fire education programs.

About the Department: The City of Madison Heights, Michigan is suburban community of 31,101 residents located two miles north of the City of Detroit.  Madison Heights maintains a full-time, paid staff comprised of 25 sworn members operating out of two stations.  The department provides fire suppression, advanced life support service with transport and hazardous materials response to an area of approximately 7.5 square miles..

The headquarters fire station is located at 31313 Brush Street and houses the administrative offices of the department.  Running out of this station are one engine, a 2007 Pierce 1250-g.p.m. pumper, a 2015 Wheeled Coach ambulance, a 1998 E-One 95 ft. aerial platform and a 14' Haz-Mat trailer. A 2002 1250-g.p.m. Pierce pumper and a 2009 Horton medium duty ambulance are kept at headquaters as reserves.

The out-station is located at 26339 John R and houses one engine, a 2004 1250-gpm Pierce pumper, a 2011 Horton medium-duty ambulance, and a 2001 24' Special Response Trailer.
